Away with suck it up – Indoda Ayikhali

We are a nonprofit organization working to break the silence around male abuse, redefine masculinity, and help boys and men heal without shame.

Our Organisation

UNSILENCEDMEN is a South African non-profit organisation that challenges cultural beliefs which ignore or normalize abuse against men. We unculture outdated ideas and culture new ones — ones that embrace emotional well-being, safety, and dignity for men and boys.

Every day, thousands of men suffer in silence. From physical violence and forced circumcision to psychological abuse and prison rape, men face traumatic experiences with little support. Our mission is to bring these issues to light, create safe spaces, and provide real help — without stigma.

We believe that healing men helps heal families and communities.

Mission

Our mission is to challenge and transform the outdated cultural narratives that silence male victims of abuse. We aim to create an inclusive platform where men and boys feel empowered to speak out, seek help, and heal without fear of judgment or emasculation. Through advocacy, education, and direct support, we are building a society that sees abuse as unacceptable — no matter the gender of the victim. By partnering with communities, experts, and survivors, we are actively working to build a safe, emotionally intelligent future for men and the generations that follow.

Vision

We envision a South Africa — and eventually a world — where men are free to express vulnerability, access mental and emotional support, and live without the burden of toxic masculinity. In this world, crying is strength, speaking up is power, and healing is a human right. Through awareness and action, we aim to contribute to a healthier society where cycles of violence are broken and all individuals are respected, supported, and protected.
