Building Better Futures Through Better Choices

On 27 May 2026, UnsilencedMen (NPO) continued its impactful collaboration with SANCA Soshanguve through the Talk to a Boy Child and Talk to a Girl Child Initiative, a programme dedicated to empowering young people with the knowledge, confidence, and guidance needed to navigate life's challenges.

The event took place at Thutong Junior Secondary School, where learners participated in meaningful discussions focused on personal development and making positive life choices.

The programme was coordinated by Garry Nkosi, who led the day's activities and reinforced the importance of community partnerships in shaping the future of young people.

The Power of Choices

The central theme of the engagement was "Choices" — a topic that encouraged learners to reflect on how their decisions today can influence their future opportunities, relationships, education, and overall wellbeing.

Representing UnsilencedMen was guest speaker Dumisani Nyundu, whose powerful personal story captured the attention of the learners.

Mr Nyundu shared his journey from serving as a South African police officer to facing the consequences of life-altering decisions, and ultimately rebuilding his life through resilience, accountability, and personal growth. His testimony offered learners a real-life perspective on the impact of choices and the possibility of transformation despite adversity.

His message challenged learners to think critically about peer pressure, discipline, responsibility, and the long-term consequences of their actions.

Engaging the Learners

The session was highly interactive, with learners actively participating in discussions and asking thoughtful questions. The engagement demonstrated the importance of creating spaces where young boys can openly learn about character, decision-making, and personal responsibility.

To further encourage participation, UnsilencedMen hosted a giveaway session where learners received:
