UnsilencedMen Continues to Empower Young Boys Through the "Talk to a Boy Child" Initiative

Making Better Choices for a Brighter Future

On 5 June 2026, UnsilencedMen (NPO) proudly continued its partnership with SANCA Soshanguve through the ongoing Talk to a Boy Child and Talk to a Girl Child Initiative, a programme designed to empower young learners with the knowledge, confidence, and life skills needed to make positive decisions.

The latest engagement took place at Tsaroga-Phoka Primary School, where learners from Grades 5 to 7 participated in an inspiring and interactive session focused on the theme:

"Choices"

The programme was facilitated by Garry Nkosi, who continues to play a key role in coordinating impactful youth development initiatives within the community.

Learning Through Real-Life Experience

Representing UnsilencedMen was guest speaker Dumisani Nyundu, whose life story provided a powerful lesson on the importance of making wise decisions.

Mr Nyundu shared his personal journey, reflecting on both the successes and challenges he has faced throughout his life. As a former South African police officer who later experienced incarceration and ultimately rebuilt his life, his testimony offered learners a unique perspective on accountability, resilience, and personal growth.

Through his motivational talk, learners were encouraged to understand that every decision they make—whether at school, at home, or among friends—has consequences that can influence their future. His message emphasized the importance of discipline, self-respect, responsibility, and choosing positive influences.

Engaging and Inspiring Young Minds

The session was filled with enthusiasm as learners actively participated, asked questions, and shared their thoughts throughout the discussion. The engagement highlighted the importance of creating safe and supportive spaces where young boys can learn valuable life lessons and develop confidence in their decision-making abilities.

To further encourage participation and make the day memorable, UnsilencedMen hosted a giveaway session where learners received:

  • Branded wristbands

  • Branded stress balls

  • Branded lanyards

  • Motivational posters

These items served as both rewards and reminders of the powerful messages shared during the session.

Building Stronger Communities Together

UnsilencedMen extends its sincere appreciation to SANCA Soshanguve, Tsaroga-Phoka Primary School, the educators, learners, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the programme.

By investing in young people and encouraging positive choices from an early age, we continue to build stronger communities and empower future leaders to reach their full potential.

The journey of guiding and uplifting the boy child continues, one conversation at a time.

Speak. Heal. Rise.
