UnsilencedMen Returns to Rhulani Secondary School to Promote Self-Care and Confidence Among the Boy Child
Every Boy Deserves to Feel Seen, Heard, and Valued
As part of our ongoing Talk to a Boy Child Initiative, UnsilencedMen proudly returned to Rhulani Secondary School in partnership with SANCA Soshanguve to continue investing in the wellbeing and development of young boys.
Building on the conversations we previously held around making positive choices, this follow-up visit focused on a different, yet equally important message: self-care, self-respect, and confidence.
More Than Hygiene—A Message of Self-Worth
The day was designed to remind every learner that taking care of yourself is not only about appearance—it is about valuing yourself and recognising your worth.
Learners received health and hygiene care packs containing essential personal care items to encourage healthy daily habits. In addition, a barber station was set up, giving boys the opportunity to receive fresh haircuts in a welcoming and uplifting environment.
For many of the learners, this experience was about more than simply looking neat. It was about restoring confidence, encouraging self-esteem, and reinforcing the idea that they matter.
Inspiring the Next Generation
Alongside the grooming activities, learners participated in motivational talks that encouraged them to:
Take pride in themselves.
Build healthy habits from a young age.
Make positive life choices.
Respect themselves and others.
Understand that asking for support is a sign of strength.
Interactive games and activities brought energy and excitement to the day, creating an environment where learning, encouragement, and fun could go hand in hand.
Every Boy Matters
One of the most important messages shared throughout the programme was simple but powerful:
You are seen.
You are heard.
You matter.
Young boys often face pressures that go unnoticed. By creating safe spaces where they feel recognised, encouraged, and supported, we help lay the foundation for healthier, more confident young men.
Stronger Together
UnsilencedMen extends its sincere appreciation to SANCA Soshanguve, the management and staff of Rhulani Secondary School, our volunteers, and every individual who contributed to making the day meaningful.
This initiative is a reminder that empowering the boy child goes beyond motivational speeches—it also means meeting practical needs, building confidence, and showing young people that their wellbeing is important.
Together, we continue to raise a generation of boys who know their value, care for themselves, and have the confidence to build brighter futures.
Speak. Heal. Rise.
