UnsilencedMen Continues the “Talk to a Boy Child” Initiative at Tsaroga-Phoka Primary School
UnsilencedMen, in continued partnership with SANCA Soshanguve, returned to the classroom as part of the ongoing Talk to a Boy Child Initiative, this time engaging with learners from Grades 5–7 at Tsaroga-Phoka Primary School.
The programme is centred on creating safe and positive spaces where young boys can openly engage with important issues, ask questions, learn from one another, and understand that their voices and experiences matter.
A Conversation with the Boy Child
The session encouraged learners to participate in meaningful discussions and activities designed to promote positive decision-making, self-awareness, respect, and personal development.
Through the engagement, UnsilencedMen reinforced a simple but important message:
You are seen. You are heard. You matter.
The initiative recognises that empowering young boys starts with having conversations early—giving them the confidence and tools to navigate the challenges they may face as they grow into young men.
Ending the Day on a Positive Note
At the conclusion of the session, learners received goody packs, adding a special moment of excitement and appreciation to the day's engagement.
While the packs were a small gesture, they helped reinforce the positive environment created throughout the programme and gave learners something tangible to remember the experience by.
Continuing the Journey
UnsilencedMen is grateful to SANCA Soshanguve, Tsaroga-Phoka Primary School, the educators, and the learners for allowing us to continue this important work.
The Talk to a Boy Child Initiative is more than a once-off school visit. It is about building consistent relationships, encouraging healthy conversations, and reminding young boys that they have a community that cares about their wellbeing and future.
One conversation can plant a seed. One boy empowered today can become a man who empowers others tomorrow.
